Recently bought this 98 Subaru Forester with 170k for $500. Somethings wrong with the clutch (we’re thinking it’s the master or Slave because it goes so far to the floor you can’t disengage it) but otherwise the thing is is in great shape. Best part is, it’s a 5speed!

Even better, it was basically free. A family friend had an accord that was sitting for 9 years, and must have had a window open or something cause it smelled like shit inside.

Anyways, my dad is a honda tech so he mentioned the crappy accord to someone at his work who jumped on it. Dude offers us $1500 for it and says “I smoke constantly, I couldn’t give a shit what the thing smells like”

So boom, subie for next to nothing.

Cars which are given to you are best cars. I was given an 06 Corolla which had been sitting for a year and a half with a window open. Still the worst car I have ever owned (it was not designed for people with long legs) but hey, free car!

I’ve wanted one of these things since my mom had one back when I was a kid! Then when i learned they are basically legos and a wrx swap into one is easy as hell, it only made the want more.

Had my eye on craigslist for the last 3 years, this one popped up and i made contact with the owner 15 minutes later. 3 hours later it was mine.

oh, sorry, story may have been misleading slightly. got the accord for free, sold it for 1500, bought the subie for 5.

When the head gasket goes in the subie, its being replaced with a wrx engine.

also, I’m a recovering bimmer addict, I am no stranger to headgaskets. Hell, to me they just meant I could convince the seller to knock a couple hundred off the price of the car.

If they have been replaced already, then they may not go for a good while. Nice find! Those engines are super easy to pull out. There is a way to do the head gaskets with it in the car, but it isn’t fun.
